WHAT THIS WORK ADDS 堃FGs help practices make changes to their services in order to be more patient focused. 堔his cluster randomised controlled trial, incorporating qualitative inquiry methods, indicated that several issues were discussed in CFGs. Some, notably privacy in reception areas, led to significant changes in IPQ scores. 堏ther issues discussed by CFGs included telephone systems, information and dissemination, appointments, waiting room facilities, the role of the practice nurse, repeat prescriptions, the use of computers and out-of-hours arrangements. SUGGESTIONS FOR FUTURE RESEARCH 堉n order to maximise the impact of CFGs in improving quality from a patient's perspective, more research is required in exploring the dynamics of CFGs and their sustainability. In other words, which aspects of the CFGs are more influential in bringing about improvements in services?
