| Abstract | Attempts are made to infer an infiltration rate distribution in the swash zone from measured head level profiles using a modified Boussinesq equation model. Limitations of this particular application of the model are illustrated as inconsistencies near the boundaries of the infiltration zone. The effect of the hydrostatic flow assumption in the derivation of the Boussinesq equation is investigated via numerical experiments with a simple 2D vertical flow model. |
