| Abstract | Most of the times women are seen differently in how they look and act, and these perceptions of difference are inevitably used by the profession of a conductor as a means to justify discrimination against them. In the profession of conducting, a female must make the familial sacrifices needed to pursue this profession, as in the case of Marin Alsop and Simone Young who have proved that they can negotiate their way through a male dominated space and find their own space. |
