| Abstract | Congratulations to Vinesh Chandra, acting Head of Mathematics at Mansfield State High School, who has been awarded the prestigious QSITE Teacher of the Year for 2004. Vinesh Chandra was born in Fiji. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree with a Certificate in Education from the University of South Pacific in 1981, majoring in mathematics and chemistry. His first posting was to Nasinu Secondary School – a government school which was built for indigenous Fijian students. He also had an additional responsibility of a boarding master. In 1984 he enrolled in the Master of Science program at the same university on a part-time basis. In 1986 Vinesh finished this degree and this was also the year when he migrated to Australia. This was made possible after Education Queensland sponsored him under the Federal Government's employer nomination program. |
