Abstract With the increasing traffic on data networks, the network performance and the vulnerability of data on transit is becoming unmanageable. Firstly, the Quality of Service (QoS) of the network has to be guaranteed and secondly, data on the network has to be secured. This paper describes a novel analyser with enhanced features for network monitoring and troubleshooting. We show how this analyser can be used to defend against certain security threats. The proposed analyser can also be used an effective teaching tool in networking laboratory classes.
