| Abstract | The major aim of this paper is to examine who is at risk of becoming the victim of an offence against the person and, more specifically, the victim of a violent crime. There is increasing evidence that criminal victimisation is not an indiscriminate visitation but, rather, certain people in certain situations are far more likely to be a victim (Goldstein 1994). Data from the 1991 Queensland Crime Victim Survey (QCVS) were analysed to investigate the nature of assault victimisation risks, and to explore in some detail the correlates of reported assaults and other crimes against the person. |
