| Abstract | Since the inauguration of a system of conciliation and arbitration in 1916 the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission and its predecessor organisations have done more than any other institution to shape the nature of labour relations within Queensland. While Governments have come and gone, and laws have changed, the Commission has refused to be the servant of any administration. Through the independence of its judgements, the Commission has given the Queensland industrial relations a sense of continuity and fairness that would otherwise be missing. |
