This chapter presents existing national programs in suicide prevention. It examines their foundations and main features. It also provides an evaluation of their possible impact. In addition, the chapter critically revises possible reasons for lack of effectiveness and calls for more co-ordinated, multi-level efforts in suicide prevention.
