| Abstract | This chapter will discuss oral health therapy (OHT) in terms of the overlapping professional domains in dentistry, the development of Australia's first new Dental School for 57 years, early and continuous dialogue with the dental and oral health professions, the purpose-built facilities, the educational principles in terms of Harden et al.'s SPICES model and the foundations of curriculum development according to Johnson's Ten Commandments. The structure of the program, an analysis of assessment of clinical skills according to Miller's Pyramid of Competence, accreditation with the Australian Dental Council, surveys of graduates and their employers, staff development and future directions will then be critically analysed. Griffith's OHT program is at the forefront of inter-professional learning and teaching in dentistry at the international level. |
