Malaria is a major global health problem and vaccine development is an imperative. However, the complexity of the malaria parasite has made vaccine development incredibly difficult. Recent data indicate that strategies that combine many antigens to induce maximal responses to protective determinants are likely to be more successful than those based on single antigens. Whole parasite approaches have also shown success in animal and human studies.Malaria is a major global health problem and vaccine development is an imperative.
