Proceedings of the 9th Annual International Conference on Post-compulsory Education and Training. The last few years have seen much talk and interest in the concept of the "new economy" - new ways of producing, consuming and circulating wealth. Work is becoming transformed by the convergence of information and communications technologies as new industries are said to be emerging. Knowledge Demands of the New Economy explores how the new economy impacts upon the post-compulsory and training sector. Issues discussed include: Promoting creative thinking and practice whilst not sacrificing marketability Developing communication and dialogue without installing new forms of coercion and control Finding valued places for both generic and site specific forms of knowledge within curriculum and accreditation settings.
